Surprisingly Cool
by James Meakin
Sometimes how you begin is not where you end up, this moment evolved at the end of a studio beauty shoot with a new face Max Penny with so much potential, baking in Cape Town summer heat, the pool suddenly seemed so inviting and offered a complete change of direction.
This sequence began from spontaneity, the character evolved and drifted somehow between sultry actress and cold Valkyrie...
Sun-kissed lustre of freckled skin, a cool cloak of water, athletic body tone and goose bump sensuality in the breeze.
Warmth was added to the skin for a summer feel, with pulled back wet hair for a stronger, less serene look.
I loved how the blues electrify and the contrasting power of black and white imagery with the platinum blonde hair…and those heterochromia eyes to get lost in.
The pool was colder than it looks, it was a short but sweet project, sometimes the focused energy of haste gives you the best moments.
